Westies & Cairns are small dogs 10-11 inches in height, weight
14-20 lbs., with big bones and large hearts. They are non-shedders, require some
grooming, and lots of brushing and general loving. They require room to run and
I recommend that they have a fenced yard to play in. Puppies are very energetic
and love to dig. These dogs were originally bred to go to ground. Digging comes
very natural for them.
I recommend anyone who is interested in this wonderful breed to
go to the site of the Westie Club of America and take their little test to see
if a Westie is the dog for you. This site is very honest about the breed and I
highly recommend it for any prospective Westie owner or Cairn owner as they have
the same temperament.
My dogs are well socialized and very loving and love everybody
who comes to our farm. They are fairly easy to train, housebreak very well and
never have any accidents. They love to ride in the car. Their favorite pastime
is to bark at my horses and swim in my pond.
Hope this has given you some insight on the wonderful Westie.
